Licensed Associate Counselor

Shawnda Wear, LAC

Hi, I’m Shawnda Wear, Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC). I’m married and have two children, a son and daughter, and recently gained a sweet daughter-in-law. I received a Master of Science in Clinical and Mental Health from Southern Arkansas University in May 2022, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from John Brown University, 2018. I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my sweet puppies (Pongo, Lola, and Hunter). In my free time I like to read, shop, kayak, and go on off-road Jeep adventures.

I was previously employed with the Van Buren School District for eleven years where I served in many positions from teachers’ aide to secretary. It was during this time I realized I wanted to do more for children and their families and decided to continue my education to become a counselor. I enjoy working with people of all ages but specialize in working with children and adolescents.

I have a passion for helping people where they are. I realize that we all have times in our lives where we need extra support, a listening ear, and a non-judgmental space to be ourselves. This is what I hope to provide for my clients. I use a person-centered and integrated approach to meet you where you are, work through problems, learn coping and relaxation skills, and help improve your life’s journey.
