Licensed Associate Counselor
Shawnda Wear, LAC
Hi, I’m Shawnda Wear, a licensed associate counselor who has been in practice since 2022. I’m married and have two amazing children, a son, a daughter, and a sweet daughter-in-law. I spend my free time with my family, friends, and three dogs. I enjoy going to new places, but if I could be anywhere, it would be at the beach; it’s where I feel at peace and relaxed, and overall, it’s my happy place.
My professional journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from John Brown University in 2018 and a Master of Science in Clinical and Mental Health from Southern Arkansas University in May 2022. Before my role as a therapist, I dedicated 11 years to the Van Buren School District.
My approach to counseling is deeply rooted in a passion for helping people of all ages and meeting them where they are in their journey. Drawing from my life experiences, I strive to create a safe space where you are heard, understood, and validated. Sessions are always focused on your unique needs and goals.
I use a person-centered and integrated approach. I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). These therapeutic approaches focus on trauma, PTSD, attachment, grief, behavior, relationships, challenging unhealthy patterns and cycles, learning healthy forms of coping, and fostering positive change.
You don’t have to continue to feel overwhelmed, stuck, or alone. With help, you can face your problems, build inner strength, and change from within. Together, we will work through your problems and improve your quality of life.
